I stopped in at the 1st Annual New York Cares Coat Drive Pop Up to drop off a coat donation. Helping others who are without coats every winter is very important to me because my kids and I were once recipients of coat donations during a difficult time. Rapper and actress Niatia “Lil Mama” Kirkland, who is a native of New York, has made a guest appearance at the pop up. I arrived shortly after her appearance so I didn’t get the chance to meet her but it’s wonderful that she is giving back to her city by supporting this cause! You can support the cause too by texting COAT to 41444 or visiting http://www.newyorkcares.org/coats for more information. The pop up is open through Saturday 12/21 until 7:30pm at 111 3rd. Ave. New York, NY.
Earlier this month, COVERGIRL announced some exciting news. The brand is now the largest makeup company that is certified cruelty free! COVERGIRL has also opened a flagship store in NYC right in Times Square. I visited the store on its opening day and I also got to attend the VIP launch party with other beauty influencers (I met 2 of my favorite beauty Influencers @laur_elyse and @itsmyrayeraye) and celebrities (it was so awesome to meet Ayesha Curry! She’s super sweet!). The party included music by DJ @Vashtie.
The store is amazingly fun and interactive. It includes makeup artist stations, a Magic Mirror where you get to try on different COVERGIRL products using augmented reality technology, and video booth and customized merch booth. Check out my YouTube video to hear more about the new store, PR unboxing and what I purchased at the COVERGIRL store.
I had a wonderful afternoon at the Make Up For Ever Pro Winter Lounge in NYC! See photos from the event on Instagram
I went on a little solo trip traveling from Baltimore to DC to see Grammy Award Winning R&B singer, Mya perform her Smoove Jones show live at The Howard Theatre. Her newest album, released on Feb 14 has been on heavy rotation in my playlist. Mya put on an amazing live show and I was literally on the edge of my seat singing along to some of my favorite 90s R&B jams as well as her newer material. After the show, she held a Meet & Greet with fans. It was so nice to meet her! She is really a lovely spirit. Even though, at the time I couldn’t actually SEE her due to not having my contact lenses (legally blind VIP or visually impaired person haha). I was using my white cane that day. It was nice to meet her face to face. She asked me how old I was. I guess, because everyone thinks I’m 14. LOL Thank you Mya for an amazing concert experience! This really uplifted my mood. I was celebrating independence and liberation. Sometimes you just have to get away from it all and dance to the music.
